Just Read, Florida! is the statewide reading initiative that prioritizes reading in Florida's public schools and among all the community groups and volunteer organizations that support them. Just Read, Florida! is based on the latest reading research that includes emphasis on phonemic awareness (knowing that words are made up of sounds), phonics (the link between sounds and letters), vocabulary (what words mean and how to say them), fluency (the ability to read words accurately and quickly), and comprehension (the ability to understand what you read). The way we dress influences our attitude toward what we are doing. The School Board requires that students dress appropriately for school to create a proper living and learning atmosphere.
NRMS has adopted a “Unified Dress Code Policy.” All students must comply with this policy. Students may wear solid color polo or oxford shirts that are WHITE, TEAL, BLACK, OR ANY SHADE OF BLUE. Only docker style pants, shorts, or skirts in NAVY BLUE, BLACK OR KHAKI (TAN ONLY). NO JEANS, SPANDEX OR ATHLETIC/FLEECE WORKOUT TYPE CLOTHING IS PERMITTED! All “undershirts” or T-shirts must be tucked in properly at all times.
NRMS requires that students wear closed shoes at all times. For safety reasons, backless shoes and slippers must not be worn. For physical education, athletic shoes and uniforms are required.
Students are not allowed to wear clothing, jewelry, buttons, haircuts, or other items or markings which are offensive, suggestive, or indecent, associated with gangs or cults, encourage use of drugs, alcohol, or violence, or support discrimination on the basis of age, color, handicap, national origin, marital status, race religion or sex.
Head coverings, including but not limited to, caps, hats, and bandanas are not allowed unless they are required for safety in special programs or are worn for documented religious or medical reasons. Curlers and other hair grooming aids are not allowed.
Friday will be New River Middle t-shirt day. You may wear your New River Middle t-shirt on Fridays.
Students may not wear jackets, sweaters, or other outer garments to cover inappropriate clothing!!! Jackets are to be worn in class only. Jackets are not allowed in the hallways or outside. |
